Delivering End-to-End Test Management for a College Admissions Service
With a core estate of applications undergoing a technology upgrade, the client needed to reassess its test strategy and execution approach. Lacking in-house capacity and specialist testing expertise, they sought a partner to take full ownership of test management across the transformation programme.
TXP was engaged to deliver Test Management as a Service (TMaaS)—providing hands-on leadership from strategy through to execution and sign-off.
The Client
An independent UK charity operating as the shared admissions service for higher education. Supporting over 1.5 million students annually, the organisation helps individuals explore and access university, employment, and apprenticeships. As part of its digital transformation programme, the client is upgrading its legacy applications.
The Challenge
- The client was upgrading legacy systems but lacked internal test management capability.
- A comprehensive test strategy was needed to support the transformation programme.
- Time constraints required a fast, structured approach to testing.
- The client needed a partner to own and manage testing end-to-end, from planning to completion.
The Solution
TXP deployed an end-to-end test management approach to lead the engagement. We began by developing a tailored test strategy, running workshops with IT and business stakeholders to ensure alignment. Daily stand-ups were introduced to manage test preparation and execution, with clear reporting on progress.
TXP also handled defect management, RAID tracking, supplier coordination for non-functional testing, and final sign-off. The approach was fully embedded into the programme, ensuring testing was structured, visible, and aligned with delivery timelines.
The Benefits
- Full coverage of test management across the programme, bridging internal resource and skills gaps.
- Accelerated delivery of a critical workstream, with testing owned and driven by TXP.
- High confidence in test outcomes, supported by best-practice methodology and clear documentation.
- A reusable testing framework now adopted for future phases of the transformation programme.
- Continued engagement with TXP to support ongoing delivery.
