Building a Sustainable Field Engineering Workforce Through the TXP Academy

Through the TXP Hotpoint Academy, TXP has created a repeatable pipeline of trained field service engineers, helping Hotpoint strengthen workforce capacity, reduce recruitment risk and respond to changing demand. The programme takes candidates from potential to permanent employment through structured training, mentoring and real-world experience

The Client

Beko is Europe’s largest white goods manufacturer, operating in more than 55 countries with a workforce of around 45,000
employees worldwide.

It’s subsidiary, Hotpoint, has been a trusted household name in the UK since 1911 and is the market leader in the country’s freestanding laundry sector.

The Challenge

For organisations operating large-scale field service networks, maintaining sufficient engineering capacity has become increasingly difficult.

Hotpoint needed a dependable pipeline of engineers capable of supporting a national service operation, meeting customer demand and maintaining high service standards. At the same time, the business faced many of the workforce challenges affecting the wider field service sector, including an ageing workforce, employee attrition and growing competition for experienced engineering talent.

As service demand continued to evolve, the business recognised that relying solely on traditional recruitment methods would not provide a sustainable long-term solution. It needed a repeatable workforce model capable of attracting, developing and retaining the next generation of engineers.

The Solution

TXP partnered with Hotpoint to create a scalable engineering talent pipeline through the TXP Hotpoint Academy.

Rather than competing in an increasingly constrained market for experienced engineers, the Academy identifies individuals with the right aptitude, behaviours and potential, then develops them through a structured programme of technical training, mentoring and real-world field experience.

The Academy provides an end-to-end workforce solution:

  • Attract and source candidates with transferable skills and potential.
  • Screen and vet applicants through a structured assessment process.
  • Deliver technical and operational training through the Academy.
  • Provide field shadowing and mentoring alongside experienced engineers.
  • Deploy engineers into live customer environments.
  • Manage engineer performance, development and compliance throughout the Academy period.
  • Transition successful engineers into permanent client roles.

This approach gives Hotpoint access to a dedicated workforce pipeline while reducing the risks associated with permanent recruitment.

The Benefits

The Hotpoint Academy has delivered measurable workforce outcomes at scale.

  • An ongoing talent pipeline that reduces reliance on short-term recruitment
  • Improved workforce planning, with the flexibility to scale capacity in line with demand
  • Reduced recruitment risk through structured training, deployment and ongoing management
  • Broader access to engineering talent, including people with no previous industry experience
  • A repeatable pathway from potential to permanent employment

Delivering Workforce Capability at Scale

The Academy was designed as a repeatable, cohort-based programme capable of supporting national workforce requirements.

The Hotpoint Academy recruits and onboards between up to 150 engineers annually through intensive training, structured deployment and subsequent transfer into permanent positions.

A key differentiator is that TXP takes responsibility not only for recruitment and training, but also for the management of engineers while they remain within the Academy programme. This provides Hotpoint with a single accountable partner responsible for workforce performance, compliance and development.

The Academy allows Hotpoint to scale capacity in line with demand, improve workforce planning and assess engineer suitability before offering permanent employment.

β€œWe didn’t expect them to attract the number of candidates they have β€” but TXP went over and above to deliver the people we needed.”
